Boo Hoo Breakfast

We never thought the day would come

OUR kids would finally be the ones

Who’d dress for school and off they’d run….

Not see them til the day is done.

But Kindergarten seems to be

Their biggest step to date.

We leave them in that big, huge school.

New friends they’ll have to make.

Teachers won’t know all their fears

Or the things they love to do--

Their strengths, their needs, their giving hearts.

It makes us feel so blue.

The principal is speaking now.

She’s says we should take heart.

The worries that we have right now

Will burst and then depart.

The teachers care; the food is good;

The rules will keep them safe.

They’ll learn to share, to read, do math --

Be terrific in this place.

They’ll teach them and they’ll guide them

to help them get right through it.

They’ll help them grow to be their best

And then you’ll say…. "I knew it!”

The kids are strong and ready now

to take this great big step.

Be proud they’re here and dry those tears.

They’re going to be adept!

When third grade comes, you’ll look around

And wonder where the time went…..

You’ll wish they could linger longer

In the Fuller Meadow envir’nment.

So stay a while and chat with us

Then rush out to the store.

Cause ‘fore you know it, the school day ends

And the kids are yours once more!
