Extended Day Care Program Description
Middleton’s Extended Day Care Program is held at the Fuller Meadow School and is available to students in Kindergarten through Grades 6 on a user-fee basis. Students who attend Howe-Manning School will take the first bus leaving for Fuller Meadow directly at the close of school. The program will be housed primarily in the cafeteria with the gym, computer lab, library, and playground used for some activities. Kindergarten students are only eligible to participate on the full days (Tuesday/Thursday or Wednesday/Friday) they attend school. On Monday, Kindergarten students attending the Monday-PM session are eligible to participate.
The Extended Day Care Program offers snacks and organized crafts and activities including sports, free play, and computer enrichment. Integrated activities such as cooking, ceramics, painting and drama will also be scheduled on a monthly basis according to student interest. In as much as possible grades 4, 5, and 6 will be grouped separately so that age appropriate crafts and activities will be planned. The Extended Day Care Program does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, cultural heritage, national origin, political beliefs, or marital status.
Philosophy
The program is designed to provide children with a warm, supportive environment where they have an opportunity to enjoy activities, make choices, develop responsibilities, and stimulate their curiosity. Efforts are directed toward developing a strong sense of community with our environment becoming “the neighborhood” to which children come to after school hours. Your child will be treated with consideration and respect and, in turn, will be encouraged to treat peers and adults in the same manner.
