Welcome to Mrs. Norris' Preschool classroom, where learning is hands-on & fun. This year, our classroom assistants are Mrs. Lishner, who works both mornings and afternoons, and Mrs.Peary, who works just with the afternoon session. Ours is an integrated classroom, with both typically developing children and children with mild to moderate special needs. We aim to meet the needs of all learners.Curriculum content focuses on motor and language development, cognition, and social skills development. Most children are exposed for the first time to the structure of a school day. Simple routines such as walking in a line, taking responsibility for personal possessions, taking turns, and following directions are all very basic skills from which a successful school experience is built. Typically developing children must be 3 years old by September 1. Throughout the year, children with special needs who have turned 3 years old may be integrated into the classroom. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's development, please feel free to contact us at the Fuller Meadow School. Preschool Coordinator is Ellen Best, who is also a Speech and Language Pathologist in the school. |

Classroom Policies: Children need a snack, drink and backpack each day. Children are not allowed to share snacks; we recommend something simple and healthy (ie: apple or granola bar). Please dress appropriately for the changing weather. Preschool means lots of movement and messy activities! Please wear play clothes and comfortable shoes that your child can run in outdoors. |

Classroom Activites/Long Term Projects: The children are really adjusting well to the transition to preschool. Separation anxiety is diminishing as they are learning to trust from experience that a parent or caregiver will be back to pick them up at the end of each session. Beginning in October, the children will each have a day for show & tell. Your child should bring in something meaningful to him or her. Please note your child's day & mark it on your calendar to ensure that they have something to show at school that day. This is their day to shine! If you have a particular skill or activity that you'd like to share with the class, we'd love to have you in. Just let me know! Thank you! |
